Covering the covers is my personal reading lounge where I pick up books on my own, write about what this book made me feel and sometimes finding articulation to what I felt many years ago but couldn’t articulate.
I don’t review books, I just want to understand the feelings of the author and understand that book like an empathetic friend.
I used to do this privately but now, this page is my expression, which sometimes rings with the authors who wrote the book.
Sometimes, the cover of a book is so beautiful that I instinctively start painting them. It makes me feel better, that’s why I think it is appropriate to call this page as a lounge instead of a review page.
I hope, I will rest in this lounge for a while, so let’s enjoy this together.

Covering the covers has a way of approaching the subject matter in a way that they break it down for you to get the essence of the book, never giving too much, just enough to get you enticed. Capturing the inner struggle of the protagonist, their vulnerability and the moment they realize what needs to be done just the way the author intended, makes each review special.
The better part of every review I’ve read so far is that it made me go out of my way to get the books and discover the journey for myself.

I have been following your reviews and I must say that it takes me to a quick ride, effortlessly. I loved the collection you have and the paintings and the aesthetics, adds more colors and layers to the story.

Covering the covers is by far one of the most creative pages I have come across. And, this is coming from someone who does not have even one creative bone in her body. Thanks to her page, I have read a few books and I cannot wait to see where her passion for books and art takes her in the future.
If you would ask me about something insightful that I found during the Covid era, I would blissfully recall just one name, i.e. ‘Covering the Covers’ authored by Chahat Khattar. She has been consistent in her recommendations of books to all the bibliophiles out there, along with the honest reviews of popular works from genres ranging from magic realism to children’s fiction. Her opinions have the charm of a true writer – a beautiful shiny pearl hidden somewhere in the ocean of knowledge, waiting to be found later… I would highly recommend everyone to nurture her passion for reading and cherish her representation of the authors’ portrayal of society.
I haven’t had the chance to read as much as I would like to, lately. And with everything that’s happening around the world, it’s gotten all the more difficult to pick up a book. So, I have a great respect for people who can. Everytime i chance upon a post by chahat, i am elated. I really appreciate how dedicated and consistent Chahat is with the all posts. It’s lovely to see the authors repost and acknowledge her reviews. Chahat perfectly pens down what the book is about without giving away too much, which is a talent not many possess. The reviews are detailed and heartfelt, which clearly portrays how much she enjoys reading herself. And what’s better than that?
The aesthetics of your page are always on point. Apart from that, the lazy readers like me thoroughly enjoy your long posts that are always framed with your own unique take on the theme. That being said, you make it easier for people like me to even at times skip the book and be happy with the review at hand.
I am not an avid reader but reading the posts and reviews on covering the covers about various novels influences me to read. The reviews are very well structured and fabulously written. It makes the reader recognize the storyline smoothly. Every picture itself depicts the novels precisely. The efforts are clearly visible with the mesmerizing use of language and words. I would recommend your page to every reader and more definitely a non reader.
